SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — A building at the Camelot condominium complex caught fire on Friday afternoon.
Two people were transported to the hospital with injuries, and the Red Cross is helping at least 18 people.
The HOA president for the community, Tabitha Rowe, said the building that caught fire, Building 6, no one was supposed to be living in it.
She told Channel 2’s Tyisha Fernandes that she is tired of seeing the buildings go up in flames.
“I don’t know... How many more buildings do we have to lose? There could’ve been lives lost here. When does it stop?” Rowe said.
The complex sits on Old National Highway in the city of South Fulton, and it’s had major problems for the last decade.

Rowe has been asking city officials to step in for years.
“All they have to do is get rid of these squatters. They’re taking this place away piece by piece, got this building over here flooding with water from stealing copper. Water is coming out. Help me,” Rowe said.
There have been at least five fires at Camelot in the last five years.
In 2023, city officials took warrants out on the HOA president and treasurer at the time, because they were accused of stealing money residents were supposed to get as insurance payouts.
A year later, Rowe was arrested for mishandling money. Rowe is still the HOA president and said the new mayor, Carmalitha Gumbs, is going to help change Camelot.
“I feel like this is a person who will come in and do the right thing. I’ve expressed the concerns, and she listens. That’s the first step in resolving something. It’s listening, so she says that we’re going to do everything we can, so hopefully this will be a new era,” Rowe said.
Firefighters are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
