Two fishermen missing after boat crash on Lake Lanier

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Rescuers searched for two fishermen Wednesday night after a boat crash on Lake Lanier earlier in the evening.

Investigators said two boats collided around 5 p.m. in the area near Bald Ridge Creek and Little Ridge Park.

“Game warden was patrolling, and they received a call about a boat collision,” said Sgt. Lee Brown, with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

Emergency crews said a man in one of the boats was taken to North Fulton Hospital with chest pains and upper extremity injuries. Two women in the same boat suffered minor injuries.

Officials said two men in another boat went under and never surfaced.

"Right now, we have our sector scan and sonar out there searching,” Brown said.

Just before 10 p.m., crews halted the search.

Channel 2's Audrey Washington asked officials if anyone will face charges in the crash. They said the investigation is still ongoing.
