GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A Gwinnett County police officer has died and another is hospitalized after they were shot outside a hotel near Stone Mountain.
The shooting happened around 7:30 a.m. outside the Holiday Inn Express on Parke Plaza Circle and East Park Place.

Police confirmed one officer died. The second officer remains in critical condition, but is stable. The suspect was also taken to the hospital. Investigators have not identified the officers or the suspect.
This is the first Gwinnett County officer death in the line of duty since Officer Antwan Toney was shot and killed in 2018.
