DUNWOODY, Ga. — The spokesman for Dunwoody Police Department is now behind bars charged with a DUI.
Sgt. Robert Parsons was involved in a single-vehicle crash just before midnight on Jan. 25, in his personal vehicle.
The crash happened off Sumac Drive, which is located off Winter’s Chapel Road.
Once on the scene, Dunwoody police determined it was one of their officers and called in Georgia State Patrol to investigate.

Georgia State Patrol arrested Parsons once their investigation was completed. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving in roadways lane for traffic.
Parsons was booked at the DeKalb County Jail.
Parsons has been placed on administrative leave with the Dunwoody Police Department as part of the departmental policy while internal affairs investigates the case.
Once the investigation is completed, a pre-adverse action hearing will take place to determine forthcoming disciplinary actions.
“Although innocent until proven guilty is the foundation of our legal system, I am greatly concerned that it appears like one of the leaders of our department made a terrible choice to drink and drive. As law enforcement officers, we are and should be held to the highest standards of conduct whether on or off duty. We will conduct a thorough investigation of this incident and the actions of our officer,” said Dunwoody Police Chief Billy Grogan.
