Channel 2′s Steve Gehlbach talked to the homeowner, who heard the small, white SUV crash into a tree early Sunday morning. Dennis Meraz said he ran outside to see if he could help.

“I check in the car, the guy is living inside,” Meraz said. He also said the car was still running and music was still playing.

Meraz said he doesn’t speak very good English, and that the man tried to say something to him but Meraz didn’t understand him. Meraz called 911 and Gwinnett County Officers arrived to find the man had died.

Gehlbach could see obvious holes in the SUV as investigators towed it away. Police said no one reported any gunshots in the area.
