Search is on for man teen says sexually assaulted her inside Walmart

ATLANTA — Police are searching for a man who, a teenager says, sexually assaulted her at a local Walmart.

The girl said that, when she walked into the store, a strange man began to follow her around and eventually sexually assaulted her.

The girl's parents told Channel 2's Justin Wilfon they are devastated about what happened to their daughter.

“She said, ‘Mom, let me tell you what happened to me last night,’ and I said, ‘OK, what happened?’” the girl's mother, Meredith Cave, said.

Cave said that, not long after her daughter walked into the Walmart at Cascade Road and Interstate 285 in southwest Atlanta on Thursday night, her daughter noticed a strange man following her.

“Like, he was lurking and stalking my daughter. He really was,” Cave said.

The parents told Wilfon the man touched their daughter in a sexual manner and then followed her to a different aisle in the store and did it again.

“Stop it. He needs to stop. Stop it. This is children,” the girl's father, Emanuel McBrook, told Wilfon.

Her parents said that some of the alleged assault was captured by store surveillance cameras, but Fulton County police have not yet released the video.

Her parents said the video’s poor quality may make it difficult for police to catch the man.
“Walmart needs to get their cameras right,” Cave said.

Wilfon spoke with a Walmart spokesperson who said the store takes the security of every person who enters the store seriously but wouldn't comment on the quality of the store’s cameras.

The girl’s parents hope police can find some way to find the man.

“I just don’t want no other mother to feel the way that I feel right now,” Cave said.

If you have any information on what happened inside the store, you are asked to call Fulton County police.
