Building collapses in Midtown after car crashes into it

A vacant building in Midtown collapsed after a car crashed into it Tuesday afternoon, Atlanta fire officials said.

ATLANTA — A vacant building in Midtown collapsed after a car crashed into it Tuesday afternoon, Atlanta fire officials said.

The crash occurred in the 400 block of Ponce de Leon Avenue, Atlanta police Officer Donald Hannah said.

“The driver of the vehicle is alert, conscious and breathing with a possible head injury,” Hannah said.

Hannah said the building has partially collapsed.
