Smell natural gas in your neighborhood? Here's what's causing it

Neighbors are worried about a gas odor in several counties but Atlanta Gas Light is insisting there is nothing to worry about.

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — Neighbors are worried about a gas odor in several counties but Atlanta Gas Light is insisting there is nothing to worry about.

On Monday afternoon, the company released a statement saying Williams Energy Company is conducting a controlled release of natural gas in the north portion of the county. They said the odor is expected to dissipate over the next 24 hours.

The odor is present in Douglas, Paulding and Cobb counties.

Several residents on social media told Channel 2 Action News it smells like rotten eggs.

If you suspect or have concerns about a natural gas leak, Atlanta Gas Light says you can contact them at 1-877-427-4321 and they will be happy to dispatch a technician to your home.
