WOODSTOCK, Ga. — Chicken wings, rock music and beer; in a nutshell, that's what the 6th Annual 97.1 The River Wing & Rock Fest was all about.
A few thousand people made their way to Woodstock City Park for Saturday's free event. Many of them took the opportunity to sample some wings from the 21 participating restaurants. Hottie Hawg's, Hooters, The Right Wing Tavern, Bogey's and J.C. Peppers were just a few of the restaurants cooking up wings at the event.
An Eagles, Bon Jovi and Journey tribute bands provided some of the entertainment.
The event included the Paddy's Pub wing-eating contest, too. Twelve contestants were given three minutes to consume as many wings as possible. The winner took home some Def Leppard concert tickets, a gift certificate and a few other prizes.

Dale Boone won the competition. Nelson's News on wsbtv.com met Boone several years ago at a July 4 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest qualifier at Zoo Atlanta. He won that event and went on to compete at the Cooney Island event later that year, too.
Boone attended Georgia Tech, but now primarily lives overseas where he takes part in eating competitions.
