CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A 23-year-old man was killed while crossing a street in Clayton County on Thursday morning.

The victim's girlfriend, who was visibly shaken by the accident, identified him as Brandon Duncan. She rushed to the scene after learning her boyfriend was struck and killed.

"That was my baby. He always had a smile," LaToya McCoy told Channel 2 Action News reporter Ryan Young.

People who witnessed the crash told Young that it appeared individuals traveling side by side in a BMW and a van were arguing.

Witnesses said the victim looked both ways before crossing the street when he was struck.

"I was so scared. That man went up in the air. When I say he went up in the air, he flipped back ... hit his head on the side and hit his head on the side walk," one woman said.

Witnesses told Young that they saw the driver of the BMW take off. That's when the driver of the van went after the BMW and both drivers later returned to the scene.

The victim had just celebrated his birthday, McCoy said.
