The latest surge in COVID-19 cases has Amazon and U.S.-based pharmacy chains limiting the number of at-home test kits customers can buy.
Walmart, Walgreens, and CVS have all limited sales of at-home COVID-19 testing kits, Reuters reported.
In a statement, Walgreens said it would limit both online and in-store purchases of test kits to four per customer.
Walmart is limiting online customers to eight tests per order, but is allowing physical stores to set their own limits based on inventory levels, Reuters reported.
CVS announced it was limiting customers to buying six tests at a time both in-store and online, CNBC reported.
Amazon is also limiting sales of some COVID-19 test kits. The company confirmed to USA Today that it is limiting people to only buying 10 of its self-branded at-home COVID-19 tests. Third-party vendors on Amazon’s site each set their own quantity limits. Any shopper who tries to add more of the tests to their cart will get a message saying that action isn’t allowed. “We are working hard to secure additional COVID-19 test inventory from sellers,” an Amazon spokesperson told CNN.
President Biden announced plans Tuesday to purchase 500 million at-home COVID-19 tests that will be mailed to Americans for free, as we previously reported.
