DECATUR, Ga.,None — DeKalb County investigators said they are stunned by recent vandalism at Winnona Elementary.
Investigators said vandals targeted a tornado siren that was installed to save lives.
In video shot by a Channel 2 Action News crew, you can see graffiti spray-painted on the ground and on the pole supporting the siren.
Ironically, many neighbors near the school have complained that the siren is way too loud.
"It's extremely painful when it goes off. We didn't understand in this particular location why this needed to be done because there's a perfect location with a good siren on the Agnes Scott campus location that goes off whenever there's severe weather. We've heard it before," said Lou Robinson, who lives in the neighborhood.
The city and the school are planning to clean up the graffiti.
