MARIETTA, Ga. — Police have identified a man they say let them on a 120 chase Thursday night. Police are still searching for 39-year-old Ross Singleton, of Columbus.
They say the chase started in Butts County and ended in Cobb County. Police say Singleton, who they say has been incarcerated several times before, led them on a chase for 70 miles with his lights off.
Singleton was last seen in the area of Canton Road and Interstate 75 and he's considered very dangerous. Police want residents in the area to keep their doors locked.
The high-speed chase ended at the I-75 north ramp to Canton Road.
Georgia State Patrol officers said Singleton was driving a Dodge Charger and crashed after he rear-ended another car.
The chase began in Butts County when sheriff deputies said they noticed the driver speeding and driving all over the road. Police say, when the deputy turned on his lights, Singleton turned off his headlights drove more than 100 mph on I-75.
Deputies said Singleton put the public in extreme danger and with the help of state troopers, they needed to get him stopped.
"You got a car at 125 mph, it's a 4,000-pound bullet," said Butts County Sheriff Gary Long.
Once the car crashed, Singleton ran and fled. The only description police have is that he was dressed in all black.
Deputies said a passenger stayed in the car. He was arrested after troopers found a large amount of marijuana in the car.
Police say that Singleton has been in the prison system several times. He is wanted for a probation violation on an armed robbery charge, according to police.
The driver that was rear-ended suffered minor injuries, they said.
