ATLANTA — Aaron Overton, 18, of Atlanta was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison in the 2007 shooting death of his acquaintance, Steve McQuire, 20.
Overton admitted in court that he confronted McQuire about returning a gun he loaned him. When the McQuire refused, the two began to argue and Overton pulled a gun, fatally shooting the victim, according to Overton. McQuire was gunned down in front of a Kenilworth Drive home Dec 2, 2007.
Overton claimed he pulled his gun in self-defense when he saw the victim reach for a weapon.
A Fulton County jury found Overton guilty of felony murder, aggravated assault and weapons charges. He was immediately sentenced to life in prison by Superior Court Judge Christopher Brasher.
