Train derailment forces closure of Barrow County intersection

BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities say the cleanup effort for a train derailment could take hours.

The train went off the rails at the intersection of Atlanta Highway and Bowman Mill Road early Monday morning.

The crossing at Bowman Mill Road and Cash Road will be blocked for about 5 to 10 hours.

The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office says residents should avoid the area as crews work to get the cars back on track.

There were no injuries or hazmat spills in the accident.
