ATLANTA,None — Police are looking for thieves who broke into a Grant Park home and stole laptops, a flat screen television and a dog.
Allison Guyer and her fiancé are offering a $5,000 reward for their most prized possession -- a 7-pound terrier mix named Socks.
"The not knowing is the worst part," Guyer told Channel 2's Erica Byfield.
Guyer is working with the nonprofit group Last Chance for Animals to come up with the reward money.
"The back door had been kicked in, the front door was open and the downstairs was sort of a mess," she said.
Guyer said the theft came in June, and now weeks before her November wedding, she said she is still grief stricken she can't find her dog.
"It's had a huge impact on our lives," she said.
Guyer believes video of another home break-in, at the home of Lawrence Dietrich in East Atlanta, is her only hope to find her dog.
The video shows what appears to be a white Isuzu Rodeo parked along Marshall Lane. About two minutes into the surveillance footage, someone carrying a large flat screen television runs to the vehicle. Dietrich told Byfield he believes it's the same vehicle.
"I don't care about the TV. I don't expect to get the TV back. That is fine. This isn't about my TV or my house, this is about a bigger issue," said Dietrich.
Atlanta and DeKalb County Police are working to see if the thefts are connected.
"I just pray every night that God would soften their heart. You never give up," said Guyer.
Guyer hopes to increase the reward in the future. They're hoping someone will spot the dog, described as white with a brown stripe down the back.
