JASPER COUNTY, Ga. — A state leader faces two separate investigations after police said he drove drunk with more than a dozen jars of moonshine in his car.
Georgia Department of Natural Resources Deputy Commissioner Walter Rabon Jr. is off the job after he crashed his Corvette on State Road 11 in Jasper County.
Troopers told Channel 2's Tom Jones Rabon said he swerved to avoid a deer.

A trooper said Rabon's eyes were bloodshot and watery; the trooper could smell a strong odor of alcohol on him. The police report indicates Rabon said he only had two drinks but the trooper said he blew well over the legal limit.
The officers says when he looked in Rabon's car, he found nine jars of moonshine. He said five additional jars had been smashed in the crash.
Sheriff Donnie Pope told Jones by phone the Department of Revenue is now investigating that.
Jones tried to get Rabon's side of the story Wednesday. When he called Rabon's home, the person who answered the phone said he was Rabon's son and that his father wasn't available, then this exchange followed:
Tom: Do you mind having him give me a call?<br/> Rabon: I will not. Thank you. Have a good day.
The DNR has an internal investigation open into this incident. We're told Rabon had a co-worker in the car with him but we've learned that's not being investigated.
Rabon is on administrative leave.
