ATLANTA — The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum is asking for help from "Star Trek" fans to help restore a huge piece of television history.
The museum is asking fans for original photos and footage of the USS Enterprise from the iconic television series.
The Smithsonian is looking to restore the ship to its specific appearance from August 1967, according to Mashable.
The Enterprise has gone through eight different restorations since it was originally built in 1964, during, and after the TV series' production.
Conservators with the Smithsonian are currently working on the ship's 1967 model which will replicate the Enterprise's appearance during and after the production of the episode "The Trouble with Tribbles," the last time it was altered throughout the original Star Trek.
The museum is looking specifically for firsthand, original photos or film of the ship under construction, during filming or on public display at any time before 1976.
If you think you can help, you can contact the Smithsonian by email at StarshipEnterprise@si.edu.
