PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — An hours-long SWAT standoff has ended in Paulding County after a man fired a gunshot at deputies.
Deputies were called to the house in the Acworth neighborhood for a wellness check just before noon on Monday. They say there was a man threatening suicide. When they tried to knock on the door, the suspect fired a high-powered rifle out the window. Shattered glass cut one deputy.
Cobb County's SWAT team was on the scene for nearly 11 hours trying to speak with the man. Deputies described the situation as "very dangerous."

At one point during the standoff deputies pumped several canisters of gas into the home, but say the suspect still did not budge.
"At this point we're still negotiating with him and hoping to urge him to come out without anyone else getting hurt," Sgt. Ashley Henson, with the Paulding County Sheriff's Office, said hours into the standoff.
Neighbors were asked to stay away until the standoff was resolved.
“For this neighborhood it's very odd. It's a quiet neighborhood but you know it is what it is so you can't do anything about it. Hopefully everybody is OK,” neighbor David Heege said.
