SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Witnesses say an SUV jumped a curb and hit a man waiting for a bus in south Fulton County.
The impact sent him flying, landing on the other side of the intersection. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man was standing in front of the bus shelter at Old National Highway when the SUV came barreling down the street.
"So I turned and I saw something flying in the air. I didn't know what it was," said Andre Sailers.
Another witness at a nearby ATM, who didn't want to be identified, heard a loud crash and turned.
"I [saw] a body due a 360 in the air and land," the witness said.
Sailers circled back to check on the man on the ground and called 911. The victim wasn't moving.
Fulton County police later found a light-colored Jeep SUV abandoned two-and-half miles away on Godby Road in College Park.
Investigators are checking to see if the SUV belongs to the suspected hit-and-run driver.
"There's a lot of damage to the SUV, lot of parts to the car still left at the scene," Sailers said.
