Local groups sending supplies to Louisiana

ATLANTA — Two local groups, Simply United Together and Friends of Baton Rouge, are coming together to help the victims of the Louisiana floods.

They will collect supplies today at Everest College and Greenbriar Mall from noon until 5 p.m. Friday.
On Saturday, they will collect from 9 a.m. until noon.

Everest College is located at 2841 Greenbrair Parkway Southwest.  The collection drive will take place on the parking lot of the campus.

Community organizers and volunteers across metro Atlanta will collect nonperishable items to help the south Louisiana flood victims. More than 400,000 residents were affected by the flood.

The groups are in special need of:

  • Volunteers
  • Gas cards
  • Plastic containers or bins
  • Moving boxes and supplies

The groups are aiming to collect over 5,000 nonperishable items to Stuff-A-Truck with the help of the Atlanta community.

This event will provide aid and immediate support to the residents of the Baton Rouge community. Volunteers are still needed to help with loading the truck and collection of items.
