ATLANTA — Neighbors in the Cascade Heights community in southwest Atlanta thought the condition of an abandoned house couldn't get any worse.
They say the door is constantly kicked in, and the windows are busted out.
People have dumped everything from a TV to a tire in the overgrown yard.
A tree collapsed on the house, and brought down power lines.
Desperate neighbors called us, and while Channel 2's Carl Willis was on the scene Georgia Power showed up.
Ruth Page Nelson showed up with a voltage meter and confirmed the power lines knocked down by the tree were still hot.
The long-ignored property got some attention as the Atlanta Fire Department, Atlanta Police Department, and Georgia Power responded.
Georgia Power cut power to the pole connected to the live wires knocked down by a fallen tree.
Neighbors say the owners of the house passed away years ago, and the current owners are out of state.
Atlanta police says this case is in the compliance resolution unit, meaning the lawyer can't be located or the owner is unwilling to maintain the property.
Neighbors want the city to take some type of action, some recommending the house be torn down.
