HALL COUNTY, Ga. — The Gainesville Police Department went above and beyond to make a boy’s first day of school special during a tough time in his life.
Landon tragically lost his father earlier this week and the department’s school resource officers wanted to step in to give him a ride and support on his first day of school.

So this morning, the police department posted photos on its Facebook page of officers dropping off the student at Gainesville Middle School and wishing him a good school year.
“We were happy to be there for him and his family in their time of need,” the department wrote.
The department said its about keeping a tight and loving community.

“It does take a village, and we will always be the keepers and protectors of that village,” the department said.
Dozens of people commented on the Facebook post saying how much they appreciate the officers’ kind deed.
“So proud of our local law enforcement!!!! Thanks for all you do!” one person wrote.
