Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan told WTVM-TV that McDaniel had been stabbed more than a dozen times at her home in Columbus, Ga.

Fredette’s son, then-14-year-old Hagan Fredette, admitted to police that he shot McDaniel in the head.

The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports that investigators said Hagan Fredette called his dad after shooting McDaniel and said she was still breathing. They say Joshuah Fredette told his son to finish killing her to leave no witnesses.

That’s when he began stabbing her, according to WTVM-TV.
