Police: Woman wanted for tying up, beating 67-year-old victim during home invasion

EAST POINT, Ga. — East Point police need your help as they search for a woman accused in a violent and terrifying home invasion off Dorsey Avenue on Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators told Channel 2 Action News she was last seen driving a Chevrolet Impala.

Home security video captured the unidentified woman in front of a 67-year-old woman's home. According to police, the attacker broke into the victim's house and waited for her to return.

They said the woman held a knife to the victim's throat and stole her ATM card.

"The female suspect confronted her. Then she beat her, tied her up, duct-taped her and basically beat her until she would give up her PIN for her bank card," Capt. Allyn Glover said.

Police said it took the victim about an hour and a half to get free. That's when she ran to a neighbor for help.

"I’m seeing her hands bound. She had duct tape around her head, so I’m like, ‘How could this small lady get out of this?’” the neighbor said.

The neighbor said his daughter answered the door, but he called 911.

“She was shaking. She could not really answer questions,” he said.

Police said the victim did not know her attacker, but they’re investigating whether she was targeted for some reason.

“This person was cold-hearted, calculated, went into someone’s home and invaded their private space and beat them to get a little bit of money,” Glover said.

Police discovered that the victim's bank cards were used at the ATM inside a food mart not long after the incident.

Police said the woman's Impala appears to be blue with front-end damage.
