DECATUR, Ga. — Decatur police say they have no leads, suspects or motive in the shooting death of a Cobb County hairstylist.
Channel 2’s Liz Artz spoke with Karen Pearce’s father and brother Thursday outside the 44-year-old’s Smyrna apartment.
They told Artz it was an emotional day. They had been in town packing up her belongings, making funeral arrangements and interviewing with Decatur homicide detectives.
Her father Larry Pearce made a plea to the public to come forward with any information about the crime.
Decatur police say Pearce left Leons restaurant in downtown Decatur Saturday night just before 11. Her body was found in a parking deck, the victim of a gunshot wound. Police believe the hairstylist had also been robbed.
John Bulluck drove from North Carolina to Atlanta with Karen Pearce’s family to gather her belongings. Pearce’s longtime friend said her death has taken a toll on everyone.
"When we slow down for a minute and try and think about it, it’s just impossible. We just can't imagine that this has really happened,” said Bulluck.
Detectives tell us there are no updates in the case and declined an on-camera interview. In the meantime, Bulluck made a public plea.
“Anyone that has any information that can be helpful right now, police are saying no leads, no suspect, (so we are) appealing to the community,” Bulluck said.
Bulluck said Pearce had recently made the decision to go to nursing school full-time. He called her a free spirit and a good soul.
“She's going to leave a large hole in the world. Not only for who she was, but what she should have done, what she could have done,” said Bulluck.
If you have any information on this case, you’re asked to call Crimestoppers at 404-577- 8477.
There is a reward for an arrest and conviction.
Karen Pearce's co-workers at True Salon are also raising money to add to the reward fund.
