Fraud suspects lead police on high-speed chase

NORTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Milton police say three suspects captured after a high-speed chase could be linked to fraud cases in at least three states.

Dash cam video obtained by Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik shows Alpharetta and Milton Police chasing after Corithia Johnson, Cory Roberts and Eddie Hardie last week.

“Our uniformed officers responded to a call about Navy Federal Credit Union about a stolen check attempted to be passed at the location,” said Lt. Charles Barstow with the Milton Police Department.  “Apparently it was stolen from a vehicle that had been entered into in Cobb County earlier in the day and the owner, once they found their vehicle had been broken into, contacted the bank and the bank had a heads up.”

The video shows the crew in a U-Haul van weaving in and out of traffic, and at one point jump a curb to avoid being captured.

Police said Johnson, who was pregnant, was driving the van, and later complained she needed medical attention after the arrest.  Police took all three into custody on various charges.

“Some of the other things we recovered in there have led us to other jurisdictions all the way from Gainesville (Florida) up to North Carolina,” said Barstow.  “Breaking into a car, taking credit cards, checks, IDs things like that.”

Barstow said the chase was successful.

“It’s the kind of chase we like to see,” he said.  “People in custody, nobody hurt.
