FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Three metro Atlanta K9 officers have been given the gift of lifesaving body armor.
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said officers Ivo, Buzz and Hummer all got bullet and stab-protective vests thanks to a donation from non-profit Vested Interest in K9s Inc.

The nonprofit has provided lifesaving vests for law enforcement dogs since 2009. The program is open to U.S. dogs that are at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. To date, Vested Interest has provided over 4,101 custom-fitted vests for K9s across the country. Each vests is valued at between $1,700 and $2,200.
Each vest is embroidered with the phrase “Born to Love. Trained to Serve. Loyal Always.”

There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.
