Father shot, killed in front of child

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Police say a College Park father was shot and killed in front of his two-year-old child Friday.

Jonas Douze Sr., 57, was sitting in a car on West Point Drive around 2 p.m talking with his child’s mother. Their two-year-old was sitting in the back seat at the time.

That’s when police say Jimmy Tate Jr., 38, drove up, got out of his car and pulled a gun on the female.

Tate then opened the door and fired several rounds at Douze, striking him once in the head.

The female and child were not harmed.

Police say Tate is the female’s estranged husband.

Tate turned himself into detectives at the College Park Police Department. Police charged him with murder, along with several other felonies.
