COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A Douglasville man who posed as a doctor and sexually assaulted a 21-year-old patient has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Patrick Ogbebor, 50, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual battery, one count of sexual battery and one count of practicing medicine without a license.
On Feb. 21, 2013, the victim went to Mosthouse Lab Test and Healthcare Clinic, on South Cobb Drive in Smyrna, for a physical required as part of her immigration process.
Ogbebor was the only employee in the clinic at the time and wore a lab coat bearing the name tag of a physician affiliated with the clinic.
He sexually assaulted the woman in an exam room, despite her saying she didn’t feel comfortable with what he was doing. The victim called Smyrna police afterward.
During Monday’s sentencing hearing, the victim tearfully recalled how the assault has affected her.
“No woman should go through that,” she said, almost in a whisper.
The victim told the judge she suffered a miscarriage caused by the stress of testifying in court.
This was the second time the victim testified just feet from her attacker. She urged the judge to sentence Ogbebor to a long prison term.
“Just so he doesn’t do it again to anybody else,” she said. %

The judge sentenced Ogbebor to 15 years in prison, followed by probation for life. He will not be eligible for parole consideration during those 15 years. He will be required to register as a sex offender and adhere to sex offender conditions of probation upon his release.
“The defendant portrayed himself as a licensed medical physician who saw the opportunity to take advantage of a young immigrant woman with a limited knowledge of both the immigration process and the healthcare system,” Assistant District Attorney Lindsay Gardner said. “He used the trust people place in medical professionals to violate the most intimate parts of a woman’s body.”
Ogbebor’s eldest son told the judge his father raised his two sons alone and has been a good role model.
“He provided us with everything we ever needed from childhood. (He) raised us on his own and taught us to be strong men,” the son said.
Ogbebor, without taking full responsibility, offered an apology to the victim and her family.
“I’m deeply saddened for the whole ordeal, what has happened the past three years. It’s realty unfortunate,” he said.
