ATLANTA — The man who shot and injured three people inside an Atlanta food court last summer will spend the next decade behind bars.
Jeremy Malone pleaded guilty to one count of attempted murder, four counts of aggravated assault and other charges.
Channel 2′s Michael Seiden was the only TV reporter inside the courtroom on Friday as Malone entered into a non-negotiated plea agreement. With that kind of plea, a defendant enters a guilty plea to the charges, but it’s up to the judge to decide the punishment.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Belinda Edwards sentenced Malone to 10 years in prison and 10 years on probation.

Investigators say Malone walked into the food court inside Peachtree Center in June and sucker punched a stranger, then shot the man and two other people. An Atlanta police officer intervened and shot Malone.
Before the judge announced the sentence, Malone heard from two of the injured victims. They both described the terror and fear they felt and how their lives changed forever.
Malone’s attorney discussed in court how his client has struggled with mental health issues and requires medication.
