PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities are searching for a man who robbed a Hiram bank Wednesday morning.
Police said officers were called to the SunTrust Bank on Metromont Road around 11:15 a.m. after someone reported a robbery in progress.
By the time officers arrived, the robber had left the scene.
Employees said a man wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses walked into the bank and spent several minutes inside. He appeared to be speaking on his cellphone when he approached one of the employees and handed them a note demanding money with “very specific instructions.”
After collecting the money, police said the man walked out of the bank and got into a dark-colored SUV nearby.
Detectives said the man is middle-aged. He appeared to be clean shaven with possible stubble, wearing denim jeans, a dark-colored jacket, light-colored “work” gloves, dark-colored sunglasses, a light-colored wide-brimmed hat, and carrying a light-to-medium blue case.
His SUV is a possibly black newer-model Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban, with chrome trim and a chrome grille, and large diameter, dark-colored wheels.
