ATLANTA — On June 6, the Atlanta Board of Education approved one of the largest school districts for the 2022-2023 school year in the state of Georgia.

The spending plan includes $26 million in pay upgrades. This includes 4.6% to 5.3% raises for all eligible employees on a pay grade.
Teachers will also get a $2,000 bonus from the governor’s pay raise.
APS plans to transition the remaining hourly special education paraprofessionals to full-time with benefits.
The new pay scale will include student support employees, such as social workers, psychologists and therapists.

The plan also includes $30.5 million for academic recovery efforts.
In this case, APD plans to extend elementary school days by 30 minutes.
More than $14 million in CARES funding was allocated to schools to help support student success.
Academic Recovery Academy, along with other summer programs will help support the district’s 50,000 students.

Operational enhancements will receive $16 million.
APD plans to increase student transportation programs and safety programs to help with new security initiatives, as well as increase maintenance in the school facilities.
