ATLANTA WEATHER: Severe storms possible Sunday

ATLANTA — Severe storms are possible across metro Atlanta Sunday night. The city is at a level 2 of 5 risk for damaging storms and parts of south Georgia are at a level 3 risk.

Here’s what you should know:

  • A severe weather threat for Sunday remains highest for far southern counties.
  • South of Atlanta into middle Georgia is where the risk increases to level 3 of 5. This includes some of the areas that had tornadoes last weekend, including Upson and Lamar counties. In these areas, there’s a higher risk for tornadoes.
  • The risk of tornadoes, damaging winds, heavy rain and some hail exist with storms late in the evening and overnight.
  • There is a level 1 of 5 risk for severe storms in north metro Atlanta. Far north Georgia will get rain and a few storms.
  • A flash flood watch has been issued from 11 a.m. Sunday to 8 a.m. Monday for metro Atlanta and south of I-20.
