Deputies found shell casings from an AR-15, several handguns.

Deputies arrested Cook around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Cook surrendered with his hands up and asked why deputies didn't kill him.

Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman says, "He was standing in the garage of the house, with a magazine in his right hand. Had both hands up. They approached him, took him down, and he kept making statements, 'Why didn't you shoot me? Why didn't you shoot me?'"

The Sheriff's Office says Cook suffers from depression, and he told deputies he was going to commit "suicide by cop".

Cook has been charged with 13 counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a firearm during commitment of a felony.

He was denied bond Thursday afternoon.

Cook had no criminal record or military affiliation before this incident, investigators say.

Thursday, Cook made his first court appearance and was denied bond. He will be scheduled for a mental evaluation.
