ATLANTA — A Californian who got lucky and won $2.04 billion in Monday night’s delayed Powerball drawing isn’t the only person who won big.
Georgia’s students will also see big money from the Powerball run.

Since the last time the Powerball was won in August, the Georgia-lottery funded HOPE scholarship and Pre-K programs have received $41.1 million.
The HOPE scholarship provides Georgia college students who meet a certain grade point average requirement with tuition assistance.

“The record-breaking Powerball jackpot run created a lot of excitement and yielded truly remarkable results for Georgia,” Georgia Lottery Corp. President and CEO Gretchen Corbin said. “With every ticket purchased benefiting Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship and Pre-K programs, Georgia’s students are huge winners.”
Several Georgians won big prizes in the historic drawing from $50,000 all the way to $1,000,000.
In total since the August Powerball win, Georgia lottery players have received $15.2 million in prizes.
