ANDERSON, SC — A 3-year-old is dead after she was hit by a car at a Christian academy.
It happened around 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Covenant Christian Academy on Liberty Highway in Anderson, SC.
The coroner’s office said the child’s mother had just gotten the little girl out of the car when the child ran into the roadway as her mother was leaving and was hit.
Anderson County deputies said the girl was hit by her mom’s car, The State newspaper reports.

Witnesses ran to the child to give her CPR until first responders could get to the school.
The coroner’s office said the child was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died from “a traumatic brain injury secondary to blunt force trauma.”
The child’s name is not being released at this time. The investigation remains ongoing by the Anderson County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
