DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Four schools will be closing at the end of the school year in DeKalb County.
Channel 2 Action News has just learned the list of possible schools under consideration for the chopping block.
This list includes:
Ashford Park Elementary
Atherton Elementary
Avondale Elementary
Bob Mathis Elementary
Briar Vista Elementary
Briarlake Elementary
Clifton Elementary
Flat Shoals Elementary
Gresham Park Elementary
Kelley Lake Elementary
Kittredge Magnet Elementary
Knollwood Elementary
Laurel Ridge Elementary
Meadowview Elementary
Medlock Elementary
Midvale Elementary
Peachcrest Elementary
Rock Chapel Elementary
Rowland Elementary
Sky Haven Elementary
Wadsworth Magnet Elementary
School officials recently told Channel 2 Action News reporter Richard Elliott the closings will save the district about $2.35 million and make up for part of its budget shortfall, which recently jumped to $88 million. Other ways to save the district money are also under consideration.
