COLUMBUS, Ga. — Two 17-year-olds and a Muscogee County Sheriff’s Department deputy were shot after the teens rammed a stolen car into the deputy’s SUV, the Georgia Bureau of Investigations said.
According to the GBI, the Columbus Police Department attempted to stop a reported stolen car on March 5, but the teens did not stop. Columbus police briefly chased the car, but it got away.

Later, a Muscogee County deputy spotted the same car. The car rammed the deputy’s SUV and one or more people inside shot at the deputy, hitting him once in the shoulder.
The deputy returned fire and hit two of the teens in the car. Adarrius Hamilton, 17, was hit in the arm and Claudie Thomson, 17, was hit in the leg.
Vicente Perez-Lopez, 17, was also in the car but was not injured.
A bystander working nearby was also shot in the leg.

The three teens were all charged with aggravated assault on a police office and other charges.
Police said that three handguns were found in the stolen car.

The deputy, two teens and a bystander were all treated at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The GBI is investigating the shooting.
