SAVANNAH, Ga. — A person is recovering after falling into an elevator shaft Saturday morning.

According to IAFF Savannah Firefighters, around 11:12 a.m., crews were called to an area on River Street after a report of an elevator accident.
Crews arrived on the scene within a minute and began investigating.

Upon arrival, fire officials learned that a person had fallen into an elevator shaft and had become pinned between the shaft opening and the top of the elevator car.
Firefighters began working to get the person out. Ultimately, the person was rescued and is recovering at an area hospital.
The victim’s age and identity were not released. Authorities did not release the victim’s current condition.
