The Georgia Bureau of Investigation working with the Meriwether County Sheriff's Office arrested Casey Allen Spradlin, 25, on Tuesday in connection with the death of Brayden Robinson.
Paramedics were called to a home on Bethel Church Road in Luthersville on Sept. 3 when they received a call about a child who fell. Emergency workers say they found Robinson unresponsive when they arrived and airlifted him to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston where the boy died.
After treating the boy, paramedics told police they thought the injuries were suspicious, according to the GBI. Agents said the final investigation revealed the boy died of blunt force trauma, but the injuries were not related to a fall.
Spradlin was the only one at home with the child at the time of the incident, according to police.
He's charged with felony murder, malice murder, cruelty to children and aggravated battery and held without bond.
Spradlin is a Coweta County firefighter who was on military leave.
Agents urged anyone with more information on the case to call their Region 2 office at 706-565-7888.
