David Chandley: More Wintry Weather On Way

Jim Mundy

ATLANTA — More wintry weather is heading toward northern Georgia, but unlike the last snow event, Severe Weather Team 2 meteorologist David Chandley said not everyone will see the flakes but some could see ice by early next week.

"A weather disturbance generated light snow showers for extreme north Georgia Thursday night and early Friday morning," Chandley said.

A winter weather advisory on Thursday night was canceled on Friday morning by the National Weather Service.

However, there remained the concern of black ice on the roads and bridges of north Georgia counties, Chandley added.

Three school districts -- Fannin, Pickens and Towns counties -- delayed the start of school by two hours on Friday.

Some parts of extreme north metro Atlanta only saw brief snow flurries; with no accumulation.

"The upcoming weekend will be sunny, cold and dry with highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s," said Chandley.

The next threat of freezing rain and ice will be Monday into Tuesday, Chandley said.
