Body Found In Burning Car At Gwinnett Park
A police officer spotted the car in the back of a parking lot at Lucky Shoals Park on Britt Road and called the Gwinnett County Fire Department, Gwinnett police Cpl. Edwin Ritter said.
"There was hot embers. The vehicle is pretty much charred," Ritter said.
He said, when firefighters arrived, they found a body in the car.
Channel 2's Amy Napier Viteri went to the scene, but the park was closed for several hours while authorities investigated. Homicide and arson investigators were working the case.
Police said they were working to identify the victim and the cause of death.
"We don't know if it was because of the fire, or if there were other sources that caused that person's death and they started that fire to destroy evidence," Ritter told Napier Viteri. "We're going to aggressively seek out the individuals responsible."
