We hit the back roads of North Georgia looking for something a little different within a short drive.
Today's trip actually took us over the state line into Murphy, North Carolina.
This is Fields of the Wood.
There are the 10 Commandments and then there are the 10 Commandments at Fields of the Wood.
The featured attraction is the 10 Commandments.
The Commandments take up the entire side of a mountain.
The letters are about five feet tall and three feet wide.
Fields of the Wood is managed by Heritage Ministries, a department of the Church of God of Prophecy. The biblical outdoor park is located on more than two hundred acres in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.
It's free to visit.
Fields of the Wood includes the Wood Valley, Prayer Mountain, Ten Commandment Mountain and a gift shop.
"Concrete markers are placed throughout the park depicting the Bible on stones in one of the most unique ways found anywhere in the world," the website notes. "As you enter the park through what is known as the south gate, you will notice three symbols from the Church of God of Prophecy flag that adorn the arch: the scepter representing authority, the star representing guiding light, and the crown of life. You may also notice that the Jewish tribe names of Simeon, Reuben, and Gad are recessed in the structural post in marble."
