Last UGA quarterback to win SEC title likes this year's team

ATLANTA — D.J. Shockley -- the last quarterback to lead Georgia to an SEC title -- says he sees a lot of similarities between that team and this year’s squad.

The MVP of the 2005 SEC Championship game recently visited with Channel 2 Sports Director Zach Klein and The Atlanta Journal Constitution's Jeff Schultz to discuss a wide range of topics on their "We Never Played the Game" podcast.

The Georgia vs. Auburn game will be broadcast on radio by News 95.5 and AM 750 WSB.

Shockley opened up about his relationship with then-coach Mark Richt, and his experience in Athens and sitting behind David Greene.

Shockley also looked ahead to the rematch against Auburn in the 2017 SEC title game and his advice to quarterback Jacob Eason -- whom he believes won't return to Athens.
