University of Georgia star running back D’Andre Swift says he won’t return next season and will enter the NFL draft.
Swift posted a message to fans on his Instagram account on Friday afternoon.
“Ever since I can remember, my parents have always taught me to follow my dreams,” he wrote. “The time has now come for me to pursue another dream of mine which is to enter the 2020 NFL Draft.”
Swift also thanked his coaches, family and friends.
Swift is a junior and ended the season as Georgia’s leading rusher. He spent the end of the season dealing with a bruised shoulder and carried the ball just one time in the Sugar Bowl for two yards.
Despite his injuries, Swift became only fifth running back in program history to rush for more than 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons. He finished the 2019 season with 1,218 yards rushing yards and 216 receiving yards with a total of seven touchdowns.
Swift ends his Bulldogs career with 2,885 rushing yards and leaves the school ranked seventh on the school’s all-time rushing list.
