Man in gorilla suit wielding machete threatened to blow up apartment building, police say

FARGO, N.D. — A man wearing a gorilla suit and wielding a machete was caught in a standoff with police early Friday morning when he threatened to blow up his apartment complex.

Fargo Police were called to the apartment complex around 12:30 a.m. for a shots fired call, KVLY reported.

“Officers were also told there was a man dressed like a gorilla carrying a machete,” police said on social media.

Officers evacuated the residents and determined that fireworks were the cause of the din. They also learned that the man in the gorilla suit had threatened some residents and said he would blow up the building.

After hours of negotiating, Jorden Pickus, 26, was taken into custody without causing harm to himself or others. He was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation, police said. He was later arrested and charged with terrorizing.
