Man arrested after beating man fondling himself in front of children with lamp, police say

MATTOON, Ill. — An Illinois man caught a man touching himself Thursday in front of his children and severely beat him with a lamp, police said.

Jesse Baird, 29, got upset after seeing the 52-year-old man fondling himself in a bedroom at their apartment complex and beat him with his fists, feet and the lamp post, WCIA reported.

The victim was taken by helicopter to a hospital with blunt force trauma to his head. He is in critical condition.

Baird was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, according to arrest records.
