FORT WALTON, Fla. — A traffic light in the Florida Panhandle is getting some attention for an unusual feature: an electrical outlet.
The Fort Walton Police Department posted a photo of the outlet on the pole on Facebook, saying, “It’s are you kidding me Thursday?!” Officers said that while “we are really in awe of the ingenuity here, we would like to send out a little reminder that damaging a traffic signal is a FELONY. If you have the power to do things like this, please use your skills in a more useful manner.”
It's are you kidding me Thursday!? 👀 I hope you did a double take the way we did because this is a weird one, you...

The device was found by an officer, who said it was being used as a makeshift charging station for phones, the Miami Herald reported.
Police said the outlet was attached to the pole with duct tape, and that the access hole was too small to allow any tampering with the actual traffic light, according to the newspaper. City public works employees have removed the outlet and “all its associated wiring,” police told the Miami Herald. The access panel was also sealed to prevent any future outlets from being installed.
In the comments section of the Facebook post, police said the power cord left in the outlet was for an unknown accessory.
