Teacher Arrested On Theft Charge

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Class is back in session for the students of a DeKalb County elementary school teacher who was arrested just days ago, authorities said.

Marbut Elementary's Elisha Martin has resumed teaching duties since being charged with a theft misdemeanor on Tuesday. She was arrested after police said she didn't return a leased or rented car by the deadline.

Martin was released on $1,000 bond, according to DeKalb County school official Alice Thompson.

School officials did not return Channel 2's phone calls, but released the following statement on the matter: "She has been convicted of no crime and is eligible to resume her duty until the court adjudicates this matter. This is a misdemeanor charge."
